As an impressionist painter, Ad Kikkert (Rotterdam 1914 – 1995 Brouwershaven) received his training at the art academy in Rotterdam. Then, like Kees Verwey, Jules Chapon and Louis Ferron, among others, he was educated by Henri Frédéric Boot (1877-1963) in Haarlem. His oeuvre consists of various landscapes, harbour views, cityscapes, still lifes and interiors. Although Kikkert lived and worked in Rotterdam for a large part of his life, he also made a few trips to France and Turkey.
